Crochet Baby Blankets

I have been in the kick of crocheting baby blankets. This may be due to the fact that everyone a lot of people in my life are pregnant right now. I have multiple family members who are due within the next month or two, a friend who is due any second, and my best friend adopted a newborn at the beginning of this year. And those are just the people that I made blankets for.

I love Barnet's Baby Yarn for these projects. It is so soft and fine. They have multiple color selections, which is great. All of the blankets that I just completed used the same design. It was simple, but adorable.

For these projects, I used a 3.5mm hook. The entire project base is double crochet, and the border was single crochet for the first round, and then a granny square stitch (which is three double crochets into one stitch, chain one, then skip a stitch and three double crochets into one stitch). It created a nice, subtle ruffle border around each blanket.

I also made a blanket for one of my husband's co-workers baby. They requested some special colors that I don't typically work with for baby blankets. Those were: navy blue, neon green, and silver. For this blanket I used a 4.0mm hook, and a double crochet back loop stitch for the body, and just single crochet three rounds for the border. It turned out alright, though definitely not one of my favorite projects that I have ever worked on.
